Head Quarters of the District Malappuram is 26km south east of Calicut. Pookotur near Malappuram is the place where the Maplas fought the

flourish at Nedumkayam, wild animals can be viewed from here. An elephant faming

25kms from Ponnani. Tirur is famour as the birth place of Thunchath
Ramanujan Ezhuthachan, the father of Malayalam Literature. Now the birth place
is called 'Thunchan parambu' is highly venerated and its san is believed to be
sacred. The sand is used in 'vidyarambham' (Starting of learning) The 'world
famous' wagon tragedy. killing 72 persons out of the 100 taken into custody by
the British and put in a good wagon, took place here.

attractive to tourists through Personal waterfalls.
