Malappuram

Head Quarters of the District Malappuram is 26km south east of Calicut. Pookotur near Malappuram is the place where the Maplas fought the British duding the Mlabar rebellion. The Jama-at-Mosuque. At Malappuram is important to the Kerala Muslims.

Manjeri

12 kms from malappuram. Majneri is the Taluk Head Quarters. Anti British revolts took place in and around manjeri from 1790.

Perinthal Manna

19 km from Malappuram. It is a fertile will area from vegitation and farming. Route- Malappuram-Angadipuram-Perinthalmanna

Ponnani

10 km from Edappal (a main junction in NH 47) Ponnani is an ancient port where Bharathapuzha merges in the Arabian sea. The Jamaryath Mosque is a place of Philgrimage and there is a school for teaching islam. Ponnani is called the Moca of Kerala. Fishing is the main occupation. Nilambur

 35 km. from Malappuram An extensive Forest area. The forest area is known as 'Canolly's Plot'. The world's oldest Teak plantation is here. The cholanail....., the oldest oborginal tribes of Kerala live in the Nilambur forest. 4 kms from Nilambur on the side of hudallur Road is the world's forest Teak Museum.

Nedumkayam

 5km from Malapuram 18 km from Nilamboor. The rain forests flourish at Nedumkayam, wild animals can be viewed from here. An elephant faming centre is located here.

Tirur

25kms from Ponnani. Tirur is famour as the birth place of Thunchath Ramanujan Ezhuthachan, the father of Malayalam Literature. Now the birth place is called 'Thunchan parambu' is highly venerated and its san is believed to be sacred. The sand is used in 'vidyarambham' (Starting of learning) The 'world famous' wagon tragedy. killing 72 persons out of the 100 taken into custody by the British and put in a good wagon, took place here.

Valamthode

27 kms from Nilambur A hill top beyond chaliyar river is attractive to tourists through Personal waterfalls.

Angadipuram

29 km from Malappuram Is an important religious centre for both Hindus and Muslims. Tirumandhankunnu Temple dedicated to goddes durga and the puthen Angadi Mosque which has Arabic inscriptions on its plants. Shornur- Nilambur railway line pases through Angadipuram.

Kadalundi

29.5kms from Malapuram and 10 kms from Parappanagadi. The place where kadalundi river flows in to Arabian sea, is the adobe of migratory birds during Feb/april

Kottakkal

12 kms south west of Malapuram in the world famous kottakal Arya VaidyaSala, Poineering centre for Ayurveda, Kerala's traditonal system of health and medicine.

Kondotty

29 km from Malapuram 18 kms from Manjeri Kondotty is a Muslim Pilgrm centre. The Vallia Nercha Fest conducted for 3 days at the 500 yeas old Pazhagangadi Mosque in Feb/March, draws large crowds.

Kuttipuram

Is an important agricultural area. Specially on account of the kerala Agriculture University extension and demonstration centres. Calicut (Kozhikode)
