Introduction to Kollam

Kollam, the gate way to Kerala's beautiful backwaters. It has beautiful waterfalls, beaches, rivers, backwaters, lakes, mountains, majestic villages, forests etc. Kollam is an old seaport town on the banks of the Ashtamudi lake. It is today, a busy, friendly city where cashew and pepper are still transported in little country boats in its cool and placid backwaters. Tourists can also visit the Tangasseri Light House and the Thlrumullavaram Beach. The 9 hour boat ride from Kollam to Alappuzha along these backwaters can be an unforgettable experience.
