Rasathanthram Wednesday, April 12, 2006 | MP
Rasathantram serves as a family entertainer with the right spell of humour being its greatest asset. Mohanlal enacts the role of carpenter Premchandran Asari with ease and naturality. His comedy timings and character performance shows the versatility of the actor. Meera Jasmine is simply superb with her flawless acting. Bharat Gopi excels in father’s role. Innocent, Oduvil, Mamukoya, Jagathy all adds it to the funny side. Music scored by Ilayaraja delivers some notable melodies. Songs and locales are picturised well. Azhagappan’s camerawork is outstanding. Though the film is technically sound, it seems to lack a solid story and a bit lengthy with the second half turning out more emotional. However Satyan has perfectly packaged it as a comic entertainer which is undoubtedly a pleasure to watch. The Satyan Anthikkad-Mohanlal duo that had teamed up after a long gap of 12 years is sure to enthrall the audience this Vishu season. More at: http://www.my-kerala.com/p/m/films/rasathanthram.shtml

Madhuchandralekha Monday, April 10, 2006 | MP

The film is about a married couple Madhu, Chandramati and their 4 kids. The couple inspite of their differences lead a happy life till another lady makes her entry. Mamta plays the second heroine. Urvasi does an impressive performance. Though her character is little weird in nature, no one else could have better handled the role of Chandramati in the film. Jayaram has nothing much new to offer. The narration would have been better if the screenplay had been chosen wisely. Though the subject is handled with wit, the film fail to keep the pace in the second half.
