Mansoon still weak in State
Wednesday 17 June 2009
Though the South West Monsoon has arrived in Kerala little early this year, the mansoon has gradually reduced its intensity in the StateĀ over the weeks.
As far as the rainfall is concerned, it has decreased over the past weeks with the weakening mansoon current. This has even delayed mansoon in the rest of the country as well. The Central parts of India are already experiencing delayed mansoons. So far Kerala has recieved only less than the average normal mansoon rains. However it is likely that the mansoon activity could strengthen over the coming week and considerably increase the rainfalls or else would signal a drought year, warns Met dept. --MP
