Govt. to permit new schools only after survey, says C M

AJ: Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said the Government in the state
will henceforth permit new schools in the state only after conducting
a detailed survey.
`More and more unaided schools are coming up in the state affecting
the very existence of Government and aided schools', he said,
inaugurating a Lower Primary School building at Marad.

There was a huge exodus of children from Government schools in the
recent past with about one lakh children seeking admission in unaided
schools last year alone.
V S also visited the proposed site at Nellikode village near here for
setting up a Information Technology Park The state Cabinet had
recently cleared the proposal for acquiring 68 acres of land on fast
track basis to set up the IT park, which would be the first such in
Malabar.
