CM visits rain-hit areas

AJ: Chief Minister VS Achuthanadan has visit to the rain –hit areas of Thrissur to assess the damage and loss of paddy caused by the summer rain. He is mainly visiting the Karalam area and is accompanied by District Collector and MLAs. After the visit he said the compensation to the farmers, who suffered agricultural losses in the heavy showers, will be given in installments.VS said farmers' suicide has become an old proverb in the state. No one should encourage farmers to commit suicide in the name of agricultural loss. The meeting will also be attended by MPs, MLAs, and District Collector.

Menwile opposition leader Oommen Chandy visited the Thiruvarppu paddy fields in Kottayam, which has been severely damaged by the summer showers. The visit was to assess the damage and inform the centre about the agricultural loss. Chandy and KPCC chief Ramesh Chennithala will be leaving for Delhi tomorrow for getting centre's aid so that the farmers can be compensated.
