Mammootty, Mohanlal, Kavya Madhavan, Prithviraj bag Asianet film awards

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 3 (IANS) Malayalam superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal reigned supreme at the popular Ujala-Asianet Malayalam film awards 2009 announced here Sunday. While Mammootty bagged the 'Millennium actor award', Mohanlal was named best actor for his role in "Ividam Swargamanu".
Mammootty had more reason to cheer as his blockbuster movie "Pazhassi Raja" was adjudged as the best film. Renjith was named best director for "Paleri Manickam", which also stars Mamootty.
The names of the awardees were announced Sunday by Asianet Television officials. The award ceremony will be held here Jan 18.

Debutant Vaishakh is directing 'Pokiri Raja' casting Mamootty and Prithwiraj to do the lead. The story tells about a school master's family. Madhavan was a model teacher of Kollanagode village. He has two sons Raja and Soorya. One day Raja left home and reached Madurai after an incident. Here he entered the world of goons and became a goon. Later Soorya too bacame a goon. Raja had courtesy only to a gang leader called Maniyannan and he was his God father. One day Raja reached Kochi after undertaking a quotation. Here he meets his brother after so many years.
Mamootty play the role of Raja and Prithwi as Soorya. Thilakan is Maniyannan. Under the banner of Mulakupaadam films Tomichan Mulakupaadam is producing the film. Sibi-Udaya Krishan team had written the screen play. Jazzi Gift has scored the music. Vayalar Sarat Chandra Varma has penned the lyrics. P.Sukumar handle the camera. Prithwiraj has sung the 3 minutes long title song in the film 'Puthiya Mukham' directed by Deepan. The song is "Puthiya mukham Iniyoru puthiya mukham...". Deepak Dev has scored the music. AJ: Prithviraj's new movie 'M G Road'' the actor play on double roles, will start shooting on this July. The movie directed by Shaji Kailash and scripted by A.K.Saajan, who then directed Prithviraj for his first action hit 'Stop Violence'. AJ: Prithviraj, is planning to appear in a triple role in his first outing with ace action director of Malayalam Shaji Kailas. The movie titled 'M G Road' will be scripted by A K Sajan who directed Prithviraj for his first action hit 'Stop Violence'. Shaji Kailas who is now at Goa to shoot for the final schedule of 'Ellam Avan Cheyaal' - a remake of 'Chinthamani Kola Case', will start the shoot for M G road by the end of April. The movie which also features three heroines will be produced by Muraleedharan under the banner of Parco group. AJ: Prithviraj is going to act in Telugu film. His prime venture in the Tollywood, in the character of a sculptor. Anjala Zaveri will appear in the female lead of this film. AJ: Prithviraj in Shaji Kailas new movie titled 'M G Road'. Prithviraj is in a triple role. This action thriller will be scripted by director A K Sajan. The film produced by Muraleedharan in the banner of Parco group, the movie will also feature three heroines. The film shoot in multitude of locations all across south India, including Bangalore, Pondicherry and Cochin, the film will start by the mid of April. AJ: After Chocolate Prithviraj will lead in Shafi's new film. The film scripted by Rafi Mecartin. The project will jump to the floors no sooner by the later half of the year. The scriptors are also planning another movie, which they will direct with one of the superstars in the lead.          AJ: Prithviraj is play an auto driver in director Raj Babu's 'Kangaroo'. An auto driver who takes care of a baby which he found on the street. Just like a Kangaroo he carries the child everywhere with him and gives it every comfort. The film which is produced by Isabella movie tone. The film have a big cast including Jayasuriya, Kavya Madhavan, Jagathy, Salim Kumar, Bindhu Panikkar, Suraj, Sijukuttan, Lalu Alex and Sukumari. The film which is distributed by Lal Release may reach the theatres as a Christmas film.

Chocolate tells the tale of a teenager who is forced to study in a women's college. Shyam Balagopal is a tough guy who has been shown the door from a couple of colleges before as he is well versed in everything other than studying and keeping discipline. For Shyam Balagopal, it's a dream come true for being the only male in a women's college, that too a college which is well known for the beauties like Anna Mathews, Nandhana and Susan. The highlight of the film is that the female is not treated in traditional misogynistic terms where the usual female lover confess before the hero of her misdoings,and strong messages are given on the illogical norms and prejudices that the elder generations holds when dealing with the problems of the younger lot. Director Shafi have done a commendable job to make it appealing to the core. Amazing performances by Prithviraj, Jayasuriya, Roma, Samvritha Sunil, Ramya and Salim Kumar. The cinematography by Azhagappan, editing by Harihara Puthran and production design is first rate. The music department by Vayalar Sharath-Alex Paul team is not at their best. The film make sure you secure a seat at the earliest to enjoy this hilarious fun, which will definitely make you smile that will linger long.
