`Paleri Manickam, Oru Paathira Kolapathakatthine Katha' was released on Saturday. The film is based on a novel published in Mathrubhoomi weekly written by T.P.Rajeeevan. It is a story based on the incident taken place in Paleri in Kozhikode district 50 years back. The novelist goes deep in search of the truth. Ranjit got interested on this novel andmade the cinema casting Mammootty as the hero and supported by artistes from drama field. Ranjith has gone for fresh actors as he feels that the viewers would accept them. Debutante Mythili is doing the heroine character, Manikyam. Mammootty dons double role in this movioe. Manikyam was killed a few days after her marriage. The hero of the film, Haridas, a private detective arrives right from Delhi to bring out the truth behind the murder and in this search he too tries to make his way of life. Other cast includes Sreenivasan, Siddique, T. Damodaran, Razak, Vijayaraghavan, Sadique, Kailas, Archana, Suresh, Shwetha Menon and others.

'Paleri Manickam' directed by Ranjith is progressing at Mukkam on the outskirts of Kozhikode City. It is a story based on the novel of T.P Rajeevan, 'Paleri Mancikam oru paathira kolapathakam'. It is an investigative story. Fifty years back a woman named Manickam, eleven days after her marriage was murdered mysteriously. It was the first case to be reported, of a lady being murdered after the first communist party Government came into reign in Kerala. Many people including Manickam's mother in law Cheeru, Velayudhan, Kunjikannan were questioned. But the police could not find any evidence of murder and the case was closed. After a period of 52 years, a private detective Haridas along with his colleague Sarayu Sarma from Delhi reached there to re investigate the case. Haridas hails from Kerala.

Mamootty dons double role in this film as Haridas a private detective and also as Murukum Kunnath Ahamed Haji. Telugu film actress Gowri dons the role of Sarayu. Debutant Maidhili dons the role of Manickam. They are supported by Swetha Menon, Sreenivasan, Siddique, stage India Vikraman Nair, Sasi Kalinga and a number of drama artistes selected after a camp conducted by Ranjit with the help of veteran actors. Screen play was also written by Ranjit. Manoj Pillai hndle the camera. Under the banner of A.V.A productions, Subair and A.V Anoop are producing the film.

Director Ranjit's forthcoming project 'Paleri Manickam' will begin at Paris. The novelist goes deep in search of the truth.  Ranjit got interested  on this novel and is on his way to make a cinema casting Mammootty as the hero and supported by artistes from drama field. The hero of the film  arrives  right from Delhi to bring out the truth  behind the murder and in this search he too tries to make his way of life. Under the banner of A.V.A productions  and Varnachitra's Big Screens banner A.V Anoop and MRS  Maha Subair is producing the film.

It is the mantra of success'', Mammooty's words accepted the audience including the veterans as wells as new comers, who attended the workshop conducted at Calicut, East Hill youth Hostel, for the new film `Paleri Manikkam, Oru Pathira Kolapathakathinte Katha', directed by Ranjith. Manju Warrier lit the lamp to open the camp. Dileep, John Paul, Jayaraj, Siddique, Lal Jose, Vijaya Raghavan, Kamal, Revathi and others guided the artistes. 31 actors were selected for the camp from the field of Drama. The film is making under the banner of AVA productions and Varna Chitra Big Screen. The shoot will start in June. Story is based on a murder case of a girl called Manikkam. The incident happened in Paleri, near Calicut in 1957. Mammooty will appear in a prominent role in the film. The heroine is not yet decided.
