'Ore Kadal' wins at German festival

AJ: Shyamaprasad's Ore Kadal, won the audience award at Germany's festival of Indian cinema. The film featuring
Mammootty and
Meera Jasmine in the lead. The festival screened 20 feature films in five days. "Loins of Punjab", "Valu, The Wild Bull" and "Shoot at Sight" were the other important films that were competing with 'Ore Kadal' for the awards.

’Ore Kadal' Bagged The FIPRESCI Awards In IFFK

AJ: Iranian Film '10+4' and Spanish film 'XXY' shared the Swarna Chakoram awards of the 12th International Film Festival of Kerala. Mania Akbari, the Director of 10+4 also bagged the 'Rajata Chakoram' award for the best Director. The Rajata Chakoram award for the debutant Director went to Luca Puenzo for her film XXY.
The NETPAC award for the best Asian film was given to 'Getting Home' directed by Lou Ye Gui Gen.'Ore Kadal' by Shyamaprasad bagged the FIPRESCI prize and NETPAC awards in the Malayalam section. `Bliss' from Turkey by Abdulla Oguz got a special jury award for its exceptional direction.
The Suvarna Chakoram award carries a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh, a statuette and a citation, while the Rajatha Chakoram award for best director carries a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh, a statuette and a citation.

'Ore Kadal' Going To Release In Major Metors

AJ: 'Ore Kadal' is all set to be released in major Indian metros.
Shyamaprasad directed film, which was the opening movie for
the Indian Panorama's feature film segment in the festival will be released in Mumbai, Delhi and Calcutta, next month. The film,
sub-titled in English is already released in South Indian metros Bangalore and Chennai. "We got a decent response for the film,"
the director stated.
"We are leaving it to chance," the director said stating that investment to the tune of Rs 5 lakh will be going for the promotion and prints of the film at each centre."It is necessary to promote the film before it is released in the metros," he said. The
film based on Bengali fiction written by Sunil Gangopadhyay,
is set against the social changes brought about by rapid globalisation. It revolves around a simple middle-class homemaker (Meera Jasmine) and free-spirited economist (Mammootty).
