Navya ties the knot

In a function filled with a festive mood, witnessing thousansds including fans, film stars, politicians and other dignitaries, South Indian film actress Navya Nair tied the knot with Santhosh N. Menon at the venue arranged in Cheppad CKHS School ground near Haripad on Thursday noon in between 12.05 and 12.30. The ground was already filled with fans around 9 a.m, when Navya arrived there with parents. Navya's brother Rahul ushered Santhosh to the venue. Veteran actor Thilakan arrived first to bless Navya. Just after Thilakan, there arrived Suresh Gopi and family and started flow of other actors including KPAC Lalitha, Mallika Sukumaran and Divya Unni. CPM state Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, Ministers G. Sudhakaran, Paloli Muhammed Kutty, N.K. Premachandran, former Minister K. Balakrishnapillai, MLAs B. Ganeshkumar, G. Karthikeyan, B. Babu Prasad, actors Vineeth, Vinu Mohan, Madhupal, Kaviyur Ponnamma, Sona Nair, Directors Nemom Pushparaj, R. Sukumaran, Scenarists Cheriyan Kalpakavadi, S.N. Swami, Producers SureshKumar, M.R. South Indian film actress Navya Nair is getting married at her hometown Haripad, CKHSS ground between the abhijith time 12.05 and 12.30 in the noon. The bridegroom Santhosh, Son of Medayil Narayana Menon and Santha Menon, hails from Perunna near Chaganaserry. He is the Vice President of Sree Chakra exporting company at Mumbai. Navya is daughter of Raju [ BSNL Engineer] and Veena [Teacher]. Director M. Madhu is her uncle. Navya [Dhanya] entered the film industry through Malayalam film 'Ishtam' of Sibi Malayil in 2001 as the heroine of Dileep. She reached fame through Ranjit's 'Nandanam' and won state film award for best actress for her character Balamani. Her Kannada film 'Gaja' was a hit. Some of her Tamil films are 'Azhakiya Theeyae' , 'Amritham' , 'Chidambarathil oru Appa sami' and 'Pasakilikal'. She has more than 55 films to her credit. Alappuzha (Kerala), Jan 20 (IANS) Popular actress Navya Nair will marry Mumbai-based Santhosh Thursday in her hometown.
Santhosh is from Kottayam district and is working with a multinational. The marriage reception will take place in her hometown Cheppad in Alleppy district and close to 5,000 people including leading Malayalam actors as well as artists from other South Indian states are expected to attend the ceremony.
Navya made her debut in Malayalam films with the hit film "Ishtam" in 2001. Since than she has worked in 55 films.
She won the Kerala state film award for best actress for her performance in "Nandanam" and later got her second state award in 2005 for "Kanne Madanguka" and "Saira".
After tasting success in Malayalam films, she also acted in Tamil and Kannada films.

Play back singer Afsal, actress Navya Nair and former minister Dr. M.K Muneer were selected for this year's All Kerala Mappila Sangeetha academy awards. G. Devarajan award instituted by the Academy will be given to Dr. Muneer. Afasal will get the award for the memory of music composer M.S Baburaj. Navya Nair will be given the award for the memory of actress Monisha. Former M.P, Mappila songs researcher and critic T.K. Hamsa and lyricist Pakkar Pannoor (Kozhikode) shared the Moyin Kutty Vaidyar memorial award. Poet, singer and flutist Raghuram (Malappuram) bagged P. Bhaskaran Memorial award. Young singer Salim Kodathoor (Thrissur) was selected for the special jury award. Navya Nair will be the heroine of Suresh Gopi in the film directed by Hari Kumar. They are supported by Jagathy, Swetha Menon and others. The story was penned by Hari Kumar. The dialogues and screenplay will be written by Sathrugnan. Rafeeq Ahamed has written the lyrics and M. Jaya Chandran scored the music. Mandhaar Creations is producing the film.
