AJ: Amritha Film awards announced. Mammootty and Meera Jasmine won the best actor and actress award in their performances in 'Ore Kadal'. Director Lal jose's 'Arabikkatha' bagged the award for the best film, Dhakshinamoorthy was selected for a special award for his contribution to Malayalam cinema. The award for the best director goes to shyamaprasad for 'Ore Kadal'. The recipients of the other awards that were announced includes Siddhique (Supporting actor), Ramya Krishnan(supporting actress), Ouseppachan (best music director), Anil Panachooran (Best lyricist), Dr K J Yesudas (best playback singer), Shwetha (best playback singer), Pattanam Rasheed (best makeup). The awards were finalized by an expert panel in accordance with the S M S messages that were invited from the viewers of the Amritha channel.

AJ: Meera Vasudev, who was Mohanlal's co-star in Thanmathra, is now paired up with Mammootty in Maya Bazaar. The film is directed by a newcomer, Thomas Sebastian, who has also penned the screenplay for the film.The life of laborers, who work as demolishing old vehicles, is the background of the film Maya Bazaar. Mammootty plays the role of a labourer named Sivenkutty. Saji Mangalath has produced the film under the banner of Akhil Movies. The film has an impressive cast including Prakash Raj, Nedumudi Venu, Innocent, Salim Kumar, Suraj Vanjaramood and Bijukuttan.

AJ: Vanitha Gallup poll awards for 2007 announced. Sreenivasan's 'Katha Parayumpol' was named the best film. Sathyan Anthikkad for
his excellent work in 'Vinodhayaathara' was selected as the best director. Mammootty and Meera Jasmine shared the best actor and actress award. Mohanlal was selected as the most popular star of 07.
The other awards are, Yesudas-best singer, Shwetha-best female singer, Anil Panachooran-best lyricist, M. Jayachandran best song.
Manoj Pillai-best cinematography, Sreenivasan-best screenplay, Suraj Venjaramoodu-best comic actor, Kalabhavan Mani-best villain and Bhama-best debut artist. The awards will be given away on the 23rd of this month.

Lal, Meera, Satyan teams up again for 'Innathe Chinthavishayam'

AJ: The most awaited Sathyan Anthikad-Mohanlal movie has been titled "Innathe Chinthavishayam". Going along with the basic theme of the story that covers the disturbances in the married life of couples. The film which is about three women who have split with their husbands over trivial matters, and the Mohanlal character along with Meera tries to bring some happiness in their lives and sort out their marital discords. The movie will see the teaming up of Sathyan Anthikad, Mohanlal and Meera Jasmine yet again. The film also features Innocent, Asokhan, Mukesh, Vijayaraghavan, Sukanya, Mohini, Muthumani and Mamukoya in important roles. Ilayaraja - Gireesh Puthencherry team creates the songs for the film while Azhagappan is behind the camera. The film produced by Antony Perumbavoor in the banner of Aashirwad films, will hit the screens on April 11 for this Vishu.

After the success of Satyan Anthikkad film Rasathanthram, the director and its lead charcters are teaming up again for another project. The film has Mohanlal and Meera Jasmine cast in the lead. Lal plays a garment exporter in the film. The film scheduled for Vishu release is currently undergoing shooting at Kochi and locales like Teni and Kambam. Azhagappan wields the camera. Others in the cast include Sukanya, Mohini, Mukesh, Ashokan etc. Satyan himself handles the script. Ilayaraja composes the music.

AJ: Mohanlal and Meera Jasmine will unite after the super hit 'Rasathanthram' in the new Sathyan Anthikkad film. Meera will be playing the role of wife of the character of Mohanlal. Sathyan is trying to narrate the problems that the newly weds face in the new global circumstances. The film is planning start by mid of january.
The film will have Mukesh, Rahman, Vijayaraghavan, Mohini, and Seetha apart from Sathyan regulars. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor in the banner Aashirwaad films and distributed by
central pictures.

38th international film festival started

AJ: 38th international film festival of India inaugurated by Shahrukh khan, at Goa. The festival which will last for another 11 days will have around 200 feature films shown in various packages.Shyama Prasad's 'Ore Kadal', starring Mammootty and Meera Jasmine, will be the opening film in the Indian Panorama section.

Adoor Gopalakrishnan's 'Naalu Pennungal', based on four stories
of Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai, Lenin Rajendran's 'Rathri Mazha', Ranjith's 'Kaiyoppu' and Babu Thiruvalla's 'Thaniye', are the other Malayalam films selected in the Panorama.
