Mohanlal and Meera Jasmine won the FilmFare awards, in its 55th edition, for their performances in the movies 'Paradesi' and 'Ore Kadal'. This was the ninth filmfare trophy that was presented to Mohanlal in his delightful career of 27 years.
Mohanlal received the awards in the ceremony at Chennai's Nehru Indoor stadium "I consider 'Paradesi' as a landmark in my film career", he said at the occasion. Lakshmi Gopalaswamy was selected the best supporting actress while Saikumar bagged the award for the best supporting actor for his performance in 'Anandabhairavi'. 'Kathaparyumpol' was selected the best movie of the year, Babu Thiruvalla was adjudged the best director for his debut feature 'Thaniye'.
