The decision was taken at the end of talks held by the IFEC here with the warring groups of MACTA. The row in MACTA, broke out when actor Dileep backtracked from his earlier decision to act in a film by director Thulasidas after accepting advance. The issue was brought before the MACTA, general secretary Vinayan decided to boycott Dileep after all efforts to persuade him to act in the film failed. Following this, director Siddique, in whose film Dileep was to act, protested the decision saying such a ban cannot be imposed on creative artistes. Vinayan allegedly used harsh words prompting a spate of resignations by top Malayalam film directors from the federation and forming a parallel union. At least 30 top directors of the Malayalam cinema had resigned from the MACTA.
