Sending computer (laptop) by courier from USA

hello friends,

I am 22 male from kerala. And I work as a freelance programmer. I want to know what will happen if some one from u.s.a sends me a computer(laptop) by courier service/parcel. Will i have to pay tax?if yes, how much? and when? only when i recieve it? or will the sender have to pay the tax?

can some one give me a relevant website or something where i can get more information?
